Hose Sizing Convention (Dash Size)

All hydraulic hoses are designated by a Dash Number (-XX) which represents the hose's Inner Diameter (ID) in sixteenths (1/16) of an inch.

Medium Pressure Hose (Single Wire Braid)

SAE Standard: 100R1 (or 100R1AT)

Hydraulic Hose Fittings

JIC (Joint Industry Council) - 37° Flare

Sealing Mechanism: Metal-to-metal seal created by flaring the tube or end of the hose fitting at a 37-degree angle which seats into a corresponding chamfer.
Key Feature: Very common in the US, Canada, and industrial applications. Provides a reliable, mechanically sealed connection that is easy to assemble and disassemble repeatedly.

ORFS (O-Ring Face Seal)

Sealing Mechanism: A flat face on the fitting seats against a flat surface on the port/adapter, with an O-ring compressed between the two faces to create a virtually leak-proof, soft seal.
Key Feature: Excellent leak prevention in high-vibration, high-pressure, and high-impulse systems. It is the preferred choice where zero leakage is critical.

BSP (British Standard Pipe)

Sealing Mechanism: Thread-based seal (for BSPT—Tapered) or an O-ring/bonded washer seal (for BSPP—Parallel).
